NORTH CALDWELL, NJ - West Essex Regional school district has appointed Lisa Swanick as the new Teaching Instructional Supervisor of Fine, Performing and Practical Arts for the 2014-15 school year.

Swanick, who comes to the district after an eight year stint at West Orange High School, holds a master’s degree in in music education from Boston University, according to a press release from the district.

“I am very excited by all of the positive energy I have witnessed at West Essex by the administration, faculty, staff, parents and students I have met,” she said.

Her top priorities in the supervisor role will be to grow the programs already in place through increased enrollment. Fostering a productive relationship between the individual Arts department and the greater West Essex community is also important, according to Swanick.

Swanick also looks forward to integrating new and emerging technology with arts education.

“I believe integrating technology into the arts curriculum is integral to empowering students with the creativity and critical thinking skills necessary for success in today’s competitive environment,” she said.

West Essex Middle School also appointed nine new teachers to its 2014-15 staff. The new teachers recently finished an orientation program that included training sessions and presentations by different departments.
