Dear Editor,

My name is Maureen “Moe” Durr. I am a lifelong resident of Caldwell and a lifelong Republican. I am writing to tell you about why I am supporting Frank Rodgers for Mayor, and Susan Vezza and Steve Flack for Council.

I’ve been involved with the Republican Party since before I was old enough to vote. I have deep ties to the community here in Caldwell. I was the Chair of the Caldwell Republican Party in the 1980’s and have maintained an active voice in local politics ever since. My husband was a 33-year member of the Caldwell Police Department and Chief of Police for his last eight years on the force. I am also a life member on the West Essex First Aid Squad. I love Caldwell and care deeply about its future.

I believe strongly in fiscal responsibility and I believe in lean and efficient government. That is why I believe in Frank Rodgers, Susan Vezza and Steve Flack.

I’ve known Frank Rodgers for many years and have come to know Susan and Steve more recently and I know that they share the same values as I do, but more importantly, I know that they have the expertise to not only keep our taxes low, but also improve services in town that have lacked under the current administration. For example, when I shop in the downtown with my grandson, Joe, it’s difficult to maneuver on the treacherous sidewalks.

Good government is about strong leadership. That is why on November 4th I will cast my ballot for Frank Rodgers for Mayor and Susan Vezza and Steve Flack for Council. I ask that you join me.

Sincerely your neighbor,

Maureen “Moe” Durr
Proud Resident of Caldwell, Proud Republican

Let the Games Begin

I am truly awed by the Olympics.  Watching these superb young athletes on TV inspires me to renew my membership to the gym and pursue my lifelong dream of taking home the gold.

The problem is that in my deluded head, I can see actually see myself standing atop the podium.  I am wrapped in a puffy designer ski coat with a huge piece of bling slung around my neck ...
