WEST ORANGE, NJ -- The West Essex ice hockey team opened its season with a 4-2 victory over Livingston Sunday at Codey Arena.

Joe Namyatov and Alex Kierepka each scored goals in the first period as the Knights took a 2-1 lead. Clayton Prial scored in the second period and Dom Sedicino scored a third-period goal for West Essex.

Prial and Namyatov each had assists, and Nick Trabb, Gil Prial and Jack Santoro also assisted on West Essex goals. Jason Albrecht faced 26 shots and made 24 saves in goal for the Knights.

Dylan Foley scored both goals for Livingston (1-1), in the first and second periods. Trevor Dzama of Livingston made 11 saves.
