Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at the parking lot off of Courter Lane in North Caldwell once again. This year’s proceeds will be donated to Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s lung cancer research program.

Research is Key:

While lung cancer is the biggest cancer killer of both men and women, it only receives 11 percent of the research funding. Each year, more people die from lung cancer than from colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. Lung cancer has an 18-percent survival rate. This poor survival rate is a direct result of the lack of funding for lung cancer research.

“This is a time of excitement and promising progress in lung cancer, with multiple new immunotherapies and targeted therapies approved in the past year, giving patients new options for treatments” said Prelude to a Cure founder Claire Mattern. “Research is the key to new hope for lung cancer patients.

“Philanthropic gifts allow Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to take risks and ask the really important questions resulting in major clinical trials. Prelude to a Cure is proud to support their work.”

Extra Time

It was close to 70 minutes into the match and I had to go to the bathroom.  Badly.

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
