Book Talks and Signings

Authors Marina Cramer and Frances Bartkowski will present Book Talks and Signings of their new historic novels Roads and An Afterlife (respectively) on Thursday, December 6 at 6:30 pm in the Community Room of the West Caldwell Public Library, 30 Clinton Road.

Cramer's Roads follows a Russian family struggling to survive  the Nazi occupation of their native Yalta towards the end of WWII. It details their experiences through German labor camps  and the bombing of Dresden. It also tells how they lose one another and manage, through refugee networks, to reunite and how their lives irretrievably change.

Bartkowski's novel, An Afterlife, follows a young couple, Ilya and Ruby, who first meet in a displaced person camp in Germany after WWII. Both lone survivors of their families, they travel to America to forge a future together. Suffering from post-traumatic stress, they face challenges individually and as a couple, as they struggle to adapt to a new culture.
