Virtual "Peaceful Poetry Reading Series"

The West Caldwell Public Library will present a weekly virtual “Peaceful Poetry Reading Series” featuring 15 accomplished poets from throughout Essex County. The poetry readings can be viewed on Thursdays at 6:00 pm on the Library’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.Each poet will share a 15-minute video of him/her reading some of their favorite poems, which are intended to offer you tranquility and peace of mind during these times.

The fifteenth poetry reading, airing on Thursday, August 13 at 6:00 pm, will feature award-winning poet and English teacher Susan Rothbard of Fairfield, who will read some of her new poems focusing on two of her passions: birds and food. Her poetry has appeared in the Literary Review, Poet Lore, The Cortland Review, Pif Magazine, the National Poetry Review, Comstock Review, Paterson Literary Review and other journals. Her work has also been featured in Ted Kooser's American Life in Poetry and on Verse Daily. In 2011, she won the Annie Finch Prize for Poetry. She earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Florham Park, NJ and her Doctor of Letters from Drew University in Madison, NJ. Susan teaches English and creative writing at Livingston High School, where she was awarded "Teacher of the Year" in 2019. 

The “Peaceful Poetry Reading Series” will conclude on Thursday, August 20 at 6:00 pm when Susanna Rich of Blairstown will offer a poetry reading.
