CALDWELL, NJ – The Caldwell Public Library is hosting a celebration for the grand re-opening of its Children’s Room on Saturday, June 1, with a commemorative ribbon cutting at 10 a.m., followed by a special story time with Caldwell Mayor John Kelley, an appearance by Pete the Cat and more.
Following Kelley's visit at 10:30 a.m., various kid-friendly activities from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. will include pony rides, a petting zoo, crafts and games and free ice cream provided by Gelotti of Caldwell.
In August 2018, the entire lower level of the Caldwell Library was flooded, which destroyed thousands of books, computer equipment, furniture and supplies. Through its “Reimagine and Rebuild” campaign, the Caldwell Public Library Foundation raised $25,000 toward the renovation project. A plaque listing the donors to this campaign will be revealed at the event.
In memory of Cathy McHugh and Tom Gartland, three mixed-media pieces by American Impressionist Lisa Palombo have also been donated to the library and will be displayed in the Children’s Room as well. Located behind the library is a new book drop donated by the Caldwell Merchants Association.
Th public is invited to join in the celebration on June 1. For more information, contact the library at 973-226-2837 or visit www.caldwellpl.org.
