My Family from Anthony “Tony” Rubinich, Incumbent Running for Reelection to the West Essex Board of Education to Represent Fairfield Township - Election Day November 3, 2020:

I moved to Fairfield with my wife, Laura, and our three children, Alexa, Andrew and Anthony, in August 1999, just in time for the start of school the year. We came to Fairfield for its well-regarded school system.

Laura is my best friend and my rock. She works with special needs students at a local Middle School. Laura enjoys connecting with friends on social media and working out at the local gyms.

Some may know Andrew from St. Thomas More Church. Andrew worked as an Altar Server for many years before joining the Seminary at Seton Hall University. At West Essex, he was very involved with the yearbook, student council, and other clubs and organizations. At the moment, Andrew is continuing his studies at Immaculate Conception Seminary in South Orange.

My eldest son Anthony was a member of the West Essex Swim Team and a Lifeguard at the Fairfield Town Pool. He graduated from the University of Scranton before starting his professional career last year.

Alexa was very active in West Essex. She was recognized academically with inductions to multiple honors societies, played field hockey for six years, and was a member of the Swim Team and other clubs. She graduated from Muhlenberg College.

I continue to marvel at what I consider to be one of the most important qualities of West Essex. The District effectively integrates our students from the four sending districts in Grade 7, achieving remarkable success over the course of six critically important middle and high school years. It further conducts annual reviews of the Program of Studies based on current needs assessments and trends, leading to the creation of new courses and extracurricular activities.

Years may have gone by, but the fact remains that many families continue to move to Fairfield for the quality of our local schools. It was true in 1999 and it is true now.

I would be grateful for the opportunity to continue building on the current and future success of West Essex as one of Fairfield’s representatives. My interest is in ensuring high levels of student achievement for current students just like my own and to leverage my Board experience to the maximum extent possible.
