CALDWELL, NJ — Mackenzie Courtright, a member of Venturing Crew 59 in Caldwell—a co-ed program for Boy and Girl Scouts between the ages of 14 and 21—was recently recognized by Mayor John Kelley and members of the borough council for the completion of her garden-bed project at the Caldwell Public Library.

Courtright’s project earned her a Pathfinder Award, which is the equivalent of an Eagle Scout Project. Through the funds she raised for the project, Courtright was able to create four raised garden beds and two benches for the garden in addition to adding siding for the shaded garden.

It was also noted during Tuesday’s council meeting that because Courtright raised funds in excess of what was needed for her project, she donated the remaining funds to the Senior Garden program.

On hand to thank her for these efforts were environmentalist Jane Kinkle, acting library director Annette Sellars and adult programming director Fran Larken.
