CALDWELL, NJ — There were five new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Caldwell on Monday, and three additional cases confirmed in West Caldwell, according to data provided by Essex County.
There have been 120 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Caldwell since the start of the pandemic. The total number of deaths in the township attributed to the coronavirus is 11. In West Caldwell, there are been 284 confirmed cases of the virus, with 46 deaths linked to COVID-19.
Essex County reported a total of 19,397 cases of COVID-19 Monday, an increase of 53 overnight. There have been 112,479 negative test results in Essex County. There have been 1,850 deaths in Essex County attributed to the coronavirus.
The state Department of Health reported that the number of coronavirus-related hospitalizations statewide fell below 700 for the first time since early in the spring.
"All the metrics in our health care system continue to trend positively," New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy tweeted Monday afternoon. "We're seeing our standing in the national rankings decrease. But, we must remain vigilant."
