WEST ESSEX AREA, NJ -- Six communities in western Essex County saw a cumulative increase of 13 cases of COVID-19 as of 9 a.m. on Saturday, according to figures released by the county.
Nine of those additional cases were in West Caldwell, which now has 186 confirmed coronavirus cases. Fairfield saw an increase of four cases, to 97. Roseland had one new cases, for a total of 64. Caldwell, which has 87 cases, had one fewer case than Friday. Essex Fells (17) and North Caldwell (35) were both unchanged.
Across Essex County, there have been 12,545 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Saturday at 9 a.m. The county reports 1,020 deaths that have been associated with the coronavirus. In Essex County, 9,722 COVID-19 tests have come back negative.
Statewide, there is a total of 105,523 cases, an increase of 3,327 overnight, with the statewide death toll now at 5,863, an increase of 246 overnight, according to the State Department of Health. Statewide there have been 108,163 negative test results.
