WEST ESSEX AREA, NJ -- Six communities in western Essex County saw a cumulative increase of six cases of COVID-19 as of 9 a.m. on Thursday.
There were seven additional cases in West Caldwell, bringing its updated total to 163. Caldwell had 87 cases, a decrease of one since late Wednesday. Fairfield (-1) has 87 cases, and Roseland had 60 cases--no change from Wednesday. Essex Fells had 17 cases (+1). North Caldwell's total of 34 cases is the same as it was late Wednesday.
Across Essex County, there have been 11,787 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Thursday at 9 a.m., 234 more than were recorded as of late Wednesday. The county reports 928 deaths that have been associated with the coronavirus. In Essex County, 8,701 COVID-19 tests have come back negative.
Statewide, there was an increase of 4,247 new cases overnight, with the statewide death toll now at 5,368, an increase of 305 overnight, according to the State Department of Health. Statewide there have been 100,159 negative test results.
