NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — Police Officers from Essex Fells, Fairfield, North Caldwell and Roseland recently visited students at West Essex Middle School to host their first “Cookie with a Cop” event, designed to allow students to become more familiar and comfortable with local law enforcement.

During last week’s board of education meeting, WEMS Principal Dr. Gina Donlevie spoke highly of the inaugural program, reiterating that the goal was for the middle school students to learn to “feel safe with police officers in the building.”

Gathered in the school’s gym, students engaged in casual conversation with the officers while enjoying cookies provided by Pomptonian Food Service.

The Chiefs of Police from all four sending districts addressed the students and encouraged them to reach out to any of the police departments at any time for any reason.
