FAIRFIELD, NJ — Staff members and animals were deemed safe on Saturday night after being evacuated from the Animal Hospital of Fairfield, located at 428 Fairfield Road, due to a heavy fire that is now under investigation by the Fairfield Fire Prevention Bureau
Fire departments from Fairfield, North Caldwell, West Caldwell, Cedar Grove, Verona, Pine Brook and Lincoln Park worked approximately two hours to extinguish the blaze.
At approximately 9 p.m., the first arriving police officers observed a heavy smoke condition in the building and forced entry.
According to the Fairfield Police Department, the officers determined that no humans or animals were inside upon entry, and members of the West Essex First Aid Squad stood by as a precautionary measure and to assist with rehabbing firefighters. No animals or people were injured.
