ROSELAND, NJ — A 25-year-old Roseland woman was arrested and charged with assault on a police officer and disorderly conduct after she was found lying on the floor of a public bathroom near the children’s section at the Livingston Public Library on Saturday afternoon.
Staff members at the library contacted Livingston police at approximately 5:05 p.m. to report the suspicious woman, who refused their help at the time. According to the staff members, the woman commented that she did not want to hurt anyone, then set off alarms as she exited the building through a fire door.
Livingston Officer Shea Datz located the woman walking toward South Livingston Avenue and gave her numerous commands to stop, but the woman continued walking north. When the officer caught up with her, she turned and lunged at him, striking him in the face, he said.
The woman, identified as Irina Celentano, was taken to the ground and placed under arrest. According to police, Celentano appeared to be intoxicated at the time, and her car was found in the library parking lot.
She was released on a summons, and the charges were referred to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
