FAIRFIELD, NJ — Three individuals were arrested in Fairfield on Monday on charges of possession of an imitation firearm and possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Just before 9:30 p.m., Det. Sgt. Jeffrey Didyk and Det. Jeffrey Dean were patrolling the parking lot of the LaQuinta hotel, located at 38 Two Bridges Road, when they observed an occupied vehicle parked in a darkened area of the parking lot in a suspicious manner, according to police.
When the officers approached the occupants, they observed that the front-seat passenger, identified as Travis Nachtigall, 29, of Strousburg, Pa., had items of drug paraphernalia on his lap. At this time, all of the occupants of the vehicle were detained.
Further investigation led to the discovery of 191 folds containing suspected heroin, a small quantity of methamphetamine, methadone, Suboxone, items of drug paraphernalia and a silver Bear River CO2 revolver-style handgun.
Nachtigall and the other two occupants—identified as Robert Purdy, 44, of Effort, Pa., and Samantha Monteforte, 26, of Point Pleasant—were then placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing.
All of the defendants were later transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark pending a bail hearing.
