ESSEX FELLS, NJ — Essex Fells and North Caldwell are each among the top five communities to live in Essex County, according to a statewide study by just released this week.

Essex Fells ranked 40th in New Jersey and No. 4 in Essex County, and North Caldwell was 41st in the state and fifth in the county in the rankings.

Breaking down the categories, Essex Fells got an overall grade of A+ from and an A+ for Public Schools and Good for Families. Its Crime & Safety grade is an A.

North Caldwell received an overall grade of A+, with an A+ for Public Schools (which the borough shares with Essex Fells) and Good for Families and an A- for Crime & Safety.

The ratings by “represent a healthy balance between statistical rigor and practical relevance in the ranking,” says the website, which states that it provides “unique ratings” and “honest reviews.” The rankings, says, are based on “aggregated data/responses” from each place and is “inspected for bad data including outliers or inaccurate values.”
