MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Caldwell scored eight runs in the third inning and went on to a 9-4 baseball victory over Columbia on Saturday.

Owen Ayers and Nick Bergamotto each had two hits and two RBI for the Chiefs (4-2), who led, 9-1, after their third-inning outburst. Nick McNish, Ty Fredo, Ray Zamloot and Luke Maida all had run-scoring hits for Caldwell.

Ryan Lill and Zamloot combined to limit Columbia (3-4) to three hits. Zamloot did not allow a baserunner in his 2 2/3 innings of relief.
