VERONA, NJ -- The Caldwell boys basketball team, playing its third game in four nights, rallied from an early nine-point deficit but fell short in a 52-51 loss to Verona on Thursday.

Senior swingman Hank Morgan scored 17 points for the Chiefs (17-7), who trailed, 15-6, after one quarter before recovering with a big third quarter to take the lead going into the final quarter.

Cristian Talavera finished with 11 points and sank three 3-pointers, and Mike Giannetta had 10 points for Caldwell. The Chiefs' next game will be Section 2, Group 2 state tournament. They will host Rutherford in the first round Tiuesday night. Caldwell is the fourth seed, Rutherford the 13th seed.
