NEWARK, NJ -- The West Essex boys basketball team built an 11-point halftime lead on its way to a 61-42 victory over Cristo Rey on opening night Friday.

Chris Corbo scored a team-high 22 points, including 12 from the foul line, for the Knights, who led, 29-18, at the half.

Justin Waack dropped in 17 points and D. Brener connected for 13 points for West Essex, which finished the game with a 14-8 showing in the fourth quarter.
