WEST CALDWELL, NJ -- The Caldwell boys soccer team advanced in the Essex County Tournament with a 3-0 victory over Nutley in the first round on Thursday night.

Carson Filion scored two goals for Caldwell (9-5). Jimmy Rizzo scored one goal and assisted Filion on one of his. Matt DiBlasio had the assist on Filion's other goal.

Francesco Crocco made 12 saves for the Chiefs, who outshot Nutley, 16-13. The seventh-seeded Chiefs next will face second-seeded Millburn on Saturday in the quarterfinal round on the road at 9 a.m.
