NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — Two members of the West Essex High School golf program recently signed their letters of intent to attend college.
Garrett Kessler, a member of the boys golf team, will attend Rutgers University and continue to play golf there.
Ava Lozito, a member of the girls golf team, will attend Monmouth University, where she also plans to play golf.
In October, Kessler carded a two-day total of 149 (74-75) at the Golf Performance Center Junior Open to tie for ninth place in that tournament. He has been West Essex' No. 1 golfer dating back to his freshman season. He won the Essex County Tournament as a freshman in 2018.
"As a freshman, I was the leading scorer of my team, leading us to an undefeated and unscored upon season," Lozito told the the NCSA Sports website. "I pride myself on being a team player as well as a hard worker, not only on the course but also in the classroom, which I believe would make me an asset to any college team."
Lozito has competed in AJGA, NJPGA, WMGA, IMG, and Hurricane tournaments. She was named NJPGA junior girls 16-18 Player of the Year.
