TOMS RIVER, NJ -- The West Essex girls track team came in 14 team points better than Voorhees to win the NJSIAA Section 2, Group 2 championship on Friday at the Bennett Center on the campus of Toms River North High School.

Senior Jenna Chan of West Essex came in first in the 55 dash and 55 hurdles. Chan won the sprint in 7.46 and the hurdles in 8.39. Junior Vivian Onnembo placed second in both the dash (7.54) and 400 (1:02.11) for West Essex, whose 66 points were the top score ahead of Voorhees' 52 points.

Senior Delilah Cruz of West Essex placed second in the hurdles (8.61). Junior Arianna Lee was third in the 400 (1:02.31). Junior Maya Perez came in fifth in the 800 (2:29.94). Junior Kate Mastrangelo was sixth in the 800 (2:32.31. West Essex junior Gillian Rodgers was fourth in the high jump (4-8).

West Essex also won the silver in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:21.41.
