NORTH CALDWELL, NJ -- Jack Steer, a goalie for the West Essex boys lacrosse team, this week signed a letter ofiIntent to attend Scranton University, where he will continue his athletic career.

Steer had his varsity debut as starting goalie as a junior.  A left-hander, Steer made 141 saves last spring.  He began his career as an attacker, and did not convert to goalie until he was in eighth grade.

In one of his best outings last season, Steer made 11 saves out of 14 shots on goal in West Essex' 11-3 victory over Millburn.

Steer will be entering the School of Management at Scranton next fall.
