12th Annual Winter Guard Competition at West Orange High School Kicks Off Competition Season


WEST ORANGE, NJ – The 12th annual Mid-Atlantic Indoor Network (MAIN) Winter Guard Competition was recently held at West Orange High School, kicking off competition season for the Mountaineers and more than 25 competing teams across the region.

Hundreds of spectators enjoyed the performances as well as the intermissions, jumping onto the floor to dance as the DJ played popular tunes. 

Junior and Senior Winter Guards from across the tri-state region performed, including West Milford, Bridgewater-Raritan, Mineola, North and South Plainfield, Wayne Hills, Matawan, Fair Lawn, Pequannock, Roxbury, Ramsey, Ridgewood, Toms River, Morristown, and Allentown. Independent World Class performers Emanon delighted the crowd and West Orange performed in exhibition, debuting their new routine, "Pay Attention."

The results of the competition were as follows:

Junior Class

1st place - Pegasus Too Junior with a score of 41.9

Scholastic Novice Class

1st place - Ridgewood High School with a score of 71.6

2nd place - Manalapan HS with a score of 71.0

3rd place - Morristown HS with a score of 69.3

Participation Award - South Plainfield HS with a score of 59.8

Participation Award - Allentown HS with a score 58.0

Independent Regional A Class

1st place - Pegasus Too with a score of 62.92

2nd place - N-8 Winter Guard with a score of 57.58

3rd place - Snyder Winter Guard with a score of 52.8

Scholastic Regional A Class

1st place - Roxbury HS with a score of 69.15

2nd place - Matawan Enigma High School with a score of 66.08

3rd  place - Pequannock HS with a score of 66.02

Participation Award - Morris Hills HS with a score of 63.55

Participation Award - Wayne Hills HS with a score of 62.18

Participation Award - Randolph HS with a score of 59.86

Participation Award - Wayne Valley HS with a score of 58.99

Participation Award - Fair Lawn HS with a score of 58.0

Participation Award - Ramsey HS with a score of 57.14 

Scholastic A Class

1st place - Bridgewater-Raritan HS with a score of 68.35

2nd place - Arlington HS with a score of 67.58

3rd place - West Milford HS with a score of 64.89

Millburn's Peter Serruto Drafted by Cincinnati Reds

MILLBURN, NJ - Peter Serruto, who just completed his senior season at Millburn High School, was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 22d round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft on Wednesday.

Serruto was the 649th pick overall.

The 6-foot, 190-pound right-handed batter has been a defensive standout since he first suited up in a Millburn uniform as a freshman.
