8 to 8 Day to be Held on Wednesday, Aug. 28 in West Orange

WEST ORANGE, NJ -  8 to 8 Barbershop will host its First Annual 8 to 8 day on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

At 8 a.m., the barbershop, located at 2 Northfield Ave., will open to begin collections for its Back to School Supplies Drive. Community members can drop off notebooks, pencils, erasers, pencil sharperners, paper filler and binders until 8 p.m.  The supplies will be distributed to local schools.  Last year, Hazel and Washington Schools received school supplies.

At noon, the West Orange and Orange High School football teams will square off in the Second Annual  Food Eating Competition, to be held in the Downtown West Orange Municipal Plaza in front of PNC Bank located at 30 Main Street.

Supreme Bakery, Johnny's Pizzeria and Subway are sponsoring the Pie, Pizza, and Sub eating contests as athletes compete for the champion title and free haircuts.  Surrounding businesses will be on hand to donate gift certificates, retail items, and specials for a free raffle drawing following the eating contests.

At 8 p.m,. 8 to 8 will begin to announce the winners of their "Like Us" on Facebook contests.  Prizes will include free products, haircuts, shape-ups, shaves and haircut memberships.  Go to Facebook and "Like" the  8 to 8 Barber Shop Facebook page by 8 p.m. Aug. 28.

8 to 8 opened in West Orange of April 2011 and offers a full range of hair therapy services for men, women and children.   The shop is open Monday and Wednesday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.  In addition to services, the shop wants to provide a friendly refuge for the community; financial security for cosmetology professionals, and develop a presence in the community where relationships can be built to help those in need.
