WEST ORANGE, NJ - The following is an announcement from Superintendent Jeffrey Rutzky regarding busing for the start of the 2016-2017 school year on Sept. 6.

2016-2017 Transportation Update

In-District:

Sign Up for E-News

For in-district students, all bus passes will be mailed to the parents/guardians of eligible students by August 24, 2016. Please ensure that your child is at the designated bus stop 10 minutes prior to the pick-up time and that the bus pass remains with your child at all times.

Out-of-District:

Parents and guardians who have a child attending an out-of-district school will receive a letter from Sussex County Regional Transportation Cooperative by August 29, 2016 indicating which bus company is transporting your child. By Wednesday, Aug. 31 the contracted bus company is expected to contact the parent/guardian regarding pick-up and drop-off times. If you have not received a call from the out-of-district bus company by Wednesday, Aug. 31, please contact Mr. DeAngelo, Director of Transportation, during business hours on Thursday, Sept.1 at 973-669-5357, extension 1.

Non-Public:

All bus passes for non-public students attending private schools will be mailed no later than Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016. The schools include Golda Och Academy, Our Lady of the Lake, Aquinas Academy, Jewish Educational Center/Bruriah High School, Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy, and Montclair Kimberly Academy Upper/Lower. 

Trial runs for all routes have been on-going throughout the month of August. Drivers make note of necessary changes during the trial runs and routes are modified and improved during this time period. Safety is the number one priority for all students. We ask for your patience as minor delays may occur during the first few days of the school year. All questions and concerns regarding busing may be directed to the Transportation Department at 973-669-5357.

NJ Governor Signs Executive Order to Fly Flags at Half-Staff to Recognize Parkland Florida Victims

New Jersey Governor Phillip D. Murphy signed Executive Order No.1 on Monday ordering the flag of the United States of America and the Flag of the State of New Jersey to be flown at half-staff to recognize and mourn the passing of the victims in Parkland, FL.

The order is for all state offices, agencies and municipalities, including schools for Tuesday, Feb. 20.
