Fourteen finalists from grades 3-5 nervously appeared before their fellow students, each representing their classes where competitions were previously held.
"Thirty-eight rounds of spelling words were administered until a winner emerged," said Gregory Principal Michelle Thompson.
Fifth grade student Madison Gough was named the 2016 Gregory Spelling Bee winner with the correct spelling of the word, "bazooka." Runners-up were fifth grade student Breylen Tyson, and fourth grade student Amelie Bryant.
"All our spellers did an absolutely amazing job and we are proud of every single student," noted Thompson.
