WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Appellate Court in Newark Tuesday rejected the Application For Permission To File Emergent Motion filed by West Orange mayoral candidate Eldridge Hawkins Jr. to contest petitions submitted by incumbent Mayor Robert Parisi to run in the Nov. 4 election.
On Sept. 12, the Superior Court dismissed Hawkins' complaint questioning the validity of 75 of the 283 petitions submitted by Parisi to be placed on the ballot.
The last possible step for Hawkins is to appeal to the New Jersey Supreme Court. Neither Parisi nor Hawkins offered comments on Tuesday's rejection.
