Atlantic Federal to Offer $1,000 College Scholarships to Local Seniors


WEST ORANGE, NJ — High school seniors are invited to apply for a 2018 Atlantic Federal Credit Union scholarship. Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students seeking post-secondary education at a four-year college, technical school or community college.

Applicants are judged based on academic performance, community involvement and leadership roles.

To qualify, a student must be a high school senior graduating in June 2018. The student should have an Atlantic Federal account or open one at the time of applying for the scholarship. Deadline for entries is March 30, 2018.

To obtain a scholarship application, visit the Atlantic Federal branch in West Orange’s Essex Green Shopping Center at 495 Prospect Avenue next to TGI Fridays or download one at  The West Orange branch is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Atlantic Federal, founded in 1935, offers a full array of personal and small business banking products.  Because it puts people before profit, loan rates are lower, savings rates are higher and there are less fees overall.

Accounts are insured to $500,000 with $250,000 provided by the National Credit Union Administration and $250,000 from private insurance. IRA accounts are separately insured to $500,000.

In addition to West Orange, Atlantic Federal has branches in Kenilworth and Newark.
