WEST ORANGE, NJ - There was an attempted robbery at the Wells Fargo at 412 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange on Thursday at 5:44 p.m.  According to officials, a black male handed a note to the teller demanding money.  No known weapon was shown.  The teller responded that the vault was closed and the suspect left the area.  No one was injured and the FBI was notified.  Detectives say that the suspect may have left in a red SUV. 

At 5:57 p.m. a robbery occurred at a PNC bank in Caldwell.  Police do not know if that robbery is related to the attempted robbery in West Orange.  There are no further updates at this time and the attempted robbery is still under investigation.
