Baseball: West Essex Blasts West Orange, 14-4


WEST ESSEX, NJ - The West Essex baseball team scored 10 runs in the third inning on its way to a 14-4 victory over West Orange on Friday.

Zac Balz, who finished with five RBI, hit a three-run double to highlight the 10-spot in the third. Ben Ruvo went 2-for-2 with a double and three runs scored for West Essex (3-1), which pounded out 14 hits. Max Ruvo and Oliver Ortman each had two hits for the Knights.

Ortman allowed three runs--but none of them earned--and struck out eight in four innings to earn the victory.

Jordan Stennett went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Kevin Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with an RBI for West Orange (1-2).
