WEST ORANGE, NJ -- The West Orange boys basketball team rallied, but fell short in a 51-48 loss to Franklin on Thursday.

Johan Atwell and Chris Latimer each scored 11 points for the Mountaineers (9-16), who trailed, 46-38, after three quarters before outscoring Franklin, 10-5, in the fourth quarter.

Forward Ismail Kamara Taylor contributed nine points for West Orange, which gave up 21 points to Franklin in the opening quarter before tightening up its defense. West Orange has completed its regular season slate. The Mountaineers will play top-seeded Paterson Kennedy Tuesday on the road when the Section 1, Group 4 state tournament gets under way.
