WEST ORANGE, NJ - With goals by Manny DiPierola and Tyreek Wray in the second half, West Orange held off Caldwell to take the win, 2-0, on Thursday afternoon, and went on to shut out Belleville, 4-0, in an away game on Saturday.
Yasin Aly, Kalleo Mendes, Allan Becerra, and Facundo Gomez each scored a goal on Saturday, and Wray had two assists in the win.
West Orange goalie AJ Petrucci had five saves and Caldwell goalie Francesco Crocco had nine while West Orange's Kalleo Mendes kicked in with two assists on Thursday.
"The boys earned a hard-fought victory over a tough team," West Orange head coach Doug Nevins said of the victory over Caldwell. "It took us 70 minutes to break through, but we eventually got the first goal when Kalleo Mendes crossed the ball to Tyreek Wray. Manny DiPierola sealed the win with a beautiful shot three minutes later and AJ Petrucci earned the shutout with five saves. It was a great team win today.”
Petrucci split time in goal with Matt Kotowski on Saturday and combined with him for three saves. Belleville’s goaltender, Fernando Pesantes, had 11 saves in the matchup.
