"The new Open Orange juried exhibition continues our initiative to serve artistsand feature the best of the arts from our community and the surrounding region," said Richard Bryant, executive director of ValleyArts. "The Firehouse Gallery, a beautiful space which opened just last year, has already proved to be a popular venue. Our plan for this exhibition is that it will continue to spread the word about the burgeoning arts community in Orange and West Orange, sparking even more interactivity and interconnection with artists throughout New Jersey and the greater metropolitan area."

Bryant thanked the volunteer leaders of Open Orange, Nigel Freeman and Jeremy Moss, and the ValleyArts Visual Arts Advisory Committee for their invaluable work in creating, planning and launching the event.  "We intend this to be the first of many Open Orange exhibitions to come," he added.

The Open Orange exhibition overlaps ValleyArts' second annual Hat City Streets Festival on June 7, 2014.  More than 2,000 people attended the Hat City Streets Festival last year.  In addition to the Open Orange Exhibition in various indoor spaces, this year's Festival will feature an outdoor fine art marketplace, student exhibitions from Orange Public Schools, family craft areas, and a day-long series of concert events.
