“We were honored to have Congressman Malinowski visit Overlook and were proud to show him the ways that AHS is working to build healthier communities within his district and throughout New Jersey,” said Lieber.

The visit also included a tour of some of Overlook’s innovative and clinical achievements such as:

  • The Telestroke technology that allows neurologists to assess stroke patients remotely thereby speeding treatment and saving brain;
  • A part of Overlook’s radiation oncology department called the Cyberknife Center, where Overlook uses the latest model of Cyberknife, allowing doctors to successfully treat even larger tumors than previously;
  • The 3-D printer, which has allowed Overlook’s clinical engineering department to partner with clinical providers to design and produce common sense solutions to common and sometimes costly health care challenges; and
  • The Glasser Caregivers Center, which is the only one of its kind in New Jersey and was designed to provide comfort and support for families and caregivers of patients.

The congressman was also given a sample of honey from Overlook’s rooftop apiaries, as well as a tote bag made from re-purposed surgical blue wrap, the products of two of the many initiatives that has earned Overlook national recognition for environmental sustainability.
