As a 17-year resident of West Orange, with two sons who have gone through the West Orange public schools, I have been able to not only give back to my community but begin a successful business through The Alternative Press (TAP).

Prior to The Alternative Press, I began getting involved in town as a class parent for my kids in their elementary school and continued my involvement in PTAs.  As the kids became older I expanded into community and township work.  I built relationships and got to know people and realized that there was so many good things going on in West Orange that were never reported.

I met Mike Shapiro and really liked him and his vision for local news sites that support their communities and provide news that is objective, proactive, and balanced.  When the opportunity presented itself to become the West Orange licensee, I accepted the challenge with the hope that an honest and objective picture of the town could be developed through fair and balanced reporting.  The West Orange Alternative Press is now one of the most read sites on The Alternative Press with over 100,000 people reading the West Orange site this year alone!  I am very proud of that.

This year we are continuing to expand our coverage and are also providing mentoring opportunities for high school and college students, as well as residents that enjoy writing and have journalistic backgrounds.

Recently, Jackie Schatell and Jessica Marrone Parkes of the Livingston TAP have partnered with me to further expand the site and work more closely with West Orange's business community.

If you love your town and the people that live there, and take the time to build relationships with the business community, it is incredibly satisfying to make a difference in people's lives and businesses through The Alternative Press.

I am truly awed by the Olympics.  Watching these superb young athletes on TV inspires me to renew my membership to the gym and pursue my lifelong dream of taking home the gold.

The problem is that in my deluded head, I can see actually see myself standing atop the podium.  I am wrapped in a puffy designer ski coat with a huge piece of bling slung around my neck ...
