WEST ORANGE, NJ - More than 75 aspiring musicians played with the award-winning West Orange High School (WOHS) Marching Mountaineers during the annual District Band Night.
The annual event, which was held during the WOHS vs. Bloomfield football game allows students in elementary and middle schools to team up with marching band students who play their instruments and work together. The younger musicians get to have the experience of being in a marching band and have a great time doing it.
Bandleader Lew Kelly, drum major Jax Apollon, and elementary, middle and high school music teachers were on hand to work with the students and enjoy some playing themselves.
"District Band Night gets bigger and better every year," said WOHS Principal Hayden Moore. "We love having our future Mountaineers and musicians get the opportunity to play with the marching band and see what it will be like. It was a great night of football, music and cheerleading.”
