Eighth Annual Frank Schott Memorial Blood Drive A Success

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Eighth Annual Francis Schott Memorial Blood Drive, sponsored by the Celtic Sisters, The Shillelagh Club,  and the Schott Family, was held on Nov. 23 at the Shillelagh Club.

The successful event collected 123 pints of blood to be donated the Blood Center of NJ, who is experiencing a huge shortage at this time.

One of the largest community blood drives in the area, all donors received a traditional catered by Francis Schott, son of the late Francis Schott, Sr., and proprietor of Stage Left and Catherine Lombardi's Restaurants in New Brunswick.

Francis Schott, Sr. was the former Fire Chief of Orange. He passed away in 1985. He was married to Dorothy and had  four children, Francis Schott, Jr., Michelle Schott, Esq, Pamela Schott ,MSW and Francine Schott, Judge of the Superior Court NJ.

The well-supported event brings together members of the Irish American community, the West Orange and West Essex communities, and more the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

Millburn's Peter Serruto Drafted by Cincinnati Reds

MILLBURN, NJ - Peter Serruto, who just completed his senior season at Millburn High School, was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 22d round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft on Wednesday.

Serruto was the 649th pick overall.

The 6-foot, 190-pound right-handed batter has been a defensive standout since he first suited up in a Millburn uniform as a freshman.
