WEST ORANGE, NJ – Mt Pleasant Elementary closed out the year with its annual carnival, which has been held on the last day of school for the past two years, and prior to that, was held a few days after school let out.

The event, led by West Orange mom, Tracey Brosnan, whose three children attend the school, consisted of a an inside game show event; and bouncy slides, obstacle courses and sporting games. There was also a dunk tank, cotton candy, and food.

“My kids had a great time,” said Lucy Duarte, mom of triplet boys, who attend the school. “The bouncies were great and so was the cotton candy.”

She added, “They were really looking forward to the event. They loved the dunk tank and just being around their friends on the last day of school. It was a great carnival.”

"Today's carnival was a great way to end a wonderful school year,” said Danielle Bolen, whose son attends the school. “The kids have been looking forward to this annual event for months and it did not disappoint."

This was the last end-of-year carnival for Principal Michael Schiavo, who is retiring after 13 years at the school. A story on his retirement will run in TAP tomorrow.

Would Shedding

How much wood wouldn’t a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck woodn’t?

Enough already.

I get it.  It is an easy mistake to make, misusing would and wouldn’t.  It happens to me all the time.

Extra Time

It was close to 70 minutes into the match and I had to go to the bathroom.  Badly.

As fans watching the World Cup know too well, bathroom breaks are a serious dilemma, especially for those who don’t have a TV in the loo.  This biological necessity is exasperated by beer, which during World Cup matches also fuels a strong propensity to throw chairs and instigate riots.
