A two alarm fire occurred at a 1 story ranch home located while the owners were not at home. The fire was initially reported through an alarm monitoring company and then confirmed by a passing motorist. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire and smoke blowing out two sides of the structure. The fire was placed under control in less than thirty minutes.

No injuries were reported however, 1 dog and three cats perished as a result of the heavy smoke condition. Mutual Aid was provided by the Orange, East Orange, South Orange and Montclair Fire Departments. The structure has been determined uninhabitable by the Township’s Construction Official. The cause of the fire is pending an investigation.
