NEWARK, NJ -- The West Orange girls basketball team needed a quarter to shake the rust off, but the Mountaineers charged back from an early 11-point deficit for a 51-46 victory over Arts High School on Tuesday.
West Orange (4-5) canceled two games last weekend because so many players on the team were out sick. Enough West Orange players were healthy for the team to take the floor on Tuesday, but Arts jumped out to a 15-4 lead after one quarter.
Kiley Capstraw finished with 33 points, six rebounds and five steals for West Orange, which rallied back with a 20-6 surge in the second quarter to take a 24-21 halftime lead. Tracey Ilderis grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to go with four points, and Natalie Nevins contributed four steals and three assists for the Mountaineers.
