Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in West Orange Welcomes New Priest-In-Charge

WEST ORANGE, NJ - Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, located at 315 Main Street, is excited to announce that Fr. Miguel Hernandez has been welcomed as the new Priest-in-Charge. Fr. Hernandez has a heart for the community, including the growing latino community in West Orange.

The Rev. Miguel A. Hernández was born in El Salvador and moved to New York City in 1977, where he studied engineering at The City University of New York, obtaining an A.A.S. Degree (1980) and a Bachelor of Technology Degree (1982).  He later received a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from The Polytechnic University of New York (1992).  

In 2012, Fr. Hernández retired as Telecommunications Engineer after 27 years of experience with the title Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff (DMTS) from AT&T Bell Labs/ Lucent Technologies/ Alcatel-Lucent in order to complete his theological studies.

In May, 2014, Fr. Hernández completed his requirements for a Master of Sacred Theology (S.T.M.) from The General Theological Seminary.  He completed his Master of Divinity Degree at The General Theological Seminary (2013).  Fr. Hernández completed Three Diplomas in Theological Studies at The Newark School of Theology (2005-2013). 

Presently he is a Member of the Commission of Latino/Hispanic Ministry in The Episcopal Diocese of Newark.  Fr. Hernández is an Instructor at The Newark School of Theology (2009–present) and Adjunct Professor at The General Theological Seminary (2012 – present). 

Fr. Hernández is married to Maria Leonor Molina-Hernández. Fr. Hernández has three daughters: Mary Hernández, Becky Ortiz and Melissa Molina.

"It is my desire to share God's love and provide programs and activities to connect us to our community," said Rev. Hernandez. "I look forward to establishing strong connections."

Sunday services are held at 9:30 am. In addition to the services, outreach ministries at Holy Trinity include the Holy Trinity-West Orange Food Pantry; the Thrift Shop, and the Saturday noon soup kitchen, Christine's Kitchen. Go to for contact information.
