This week one of West Orange’s unsung heroes passed away. She was a woman of modest means whose generosity and giving nature surpassed many a millionaire. She was a quiet and unassuming woman who each day gave her heart and soul to those less fortunate than she.
On her own accord she took in children, some of whom had special needs, into her home to raise as a surrogate grandmother. When she saw others hungry and without, she created the food pantry at the Holy Trinity Church. She instilled in all of her children and grandchildren the need to help those less fortunate than themselves and each and every one of them actively participates to make sure food is on the table for all of those who seek assistance. It will be difficult for anyone to fill her shoes and she will not be forgotten by many. Rest in peace Alice Hoffman, you touched many lives.
