Ice Hockey: West Orange and Dayton-Brearley-Union Play to 3-3 Tie

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The Dayton-Brearley-Union Bulldogs traveled to the Codey Arena this weekend to face their division rival, the West Orange Mountaineers, who defeated the Bulldogs 6-2 in their first match. The game ended in a 3-3 tie, leaving the Mountaineers at 6-10-2 for the season and 2-3-2 in the division.

The Bulldogs are now 3-5-2 on the season and 1-3-1 in their division. 

In the first period, the Mountaineers started the scoring and took a 1-0 lead. They got one more in the second period, while the Bulldogs scored twice and the game went to the third period tied 2-2. The teams exchanged goals in the third period.

Davey Campbell scored twice for the Mountaineers with Daniel Feinblatt scoring the other goal. Lucio Maffei assisted on two Mountaineer goals.

The Bulldogs' goals came from JT Bokoske, Brenden Smith and Victor Velazquez. Velazquez had the only assist for the Bulldogs.

Matt Guedes, the Mountaineers’ goalie, stopped 22 of 25 shots for a save percentage of 88.0 percent. The Bulldogs’ goalie Nick Fachinni had another active day in the net stopping 35 of 38 shots for a save percentage of 92.12 percent.

West Orange faces Fair Lawn High School 4:15 p.m. Monday at Codey Arena. 

The Bulldogs next face Gill St. Bernard’s School 8:30 p.m. Monday at Warinanco Ice Rink.
