WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange Alternative Press is pleased to present the Wo-Zone, a volunteer email publication begun by Adina Viezel and her team on the West Orange Council of PTAs eight years ago.  The Wo-Zone provides information on  PTA events and activities open to all West Orange residents. Residents are encouraged to sign up to receive news about events and activities sponsored by the PTAs and Booster clubs in town:

ALL THAT JAZZ - The WOHS Music Boosters invite you to "A Night of Jazz at Trumpets" on Monday, April 15 at 7:00 pm at Trumpets Jazz Club & Restaurant, 6 Depot Square, Montclair, featuring the WOHS Jazz 1 Band and a 50/50 Raffle. ZUMBA AT PLEASANTDALE! Dance yourself into shape with Zumba Fitness at Pleasantdale School and Carol Fastiggi, our certified instructor. Classes are taking place on Thursdays from 7:00pm-8:00pm through April 18 in the Pleasantdale School Gymnasium, 555 Pleasant Valley Way. Cost is $10 at the door. REDWOOD GOLF CLASSIC - Redwood Elementary School is hosting its First Annual Golf Classic on Thursday, April 25 at Cedar Hills Golf Club in Livingston. PROJECT GRADUATION CAR RAFFLE - Project Graduation is conducting a raffle for a 2013 Ford Escape! Tickets will be available at each of the schools, Town Hall, and the Board of Education offices. VOLUNTEER TUTORS NEEDED -  West Orange High School students, parents and any interested members of the community are invited to serve as tutors for elementary students in grades 2 - 5 at Pleasantdale, Hazel, Gregory, St Cloud, and Washington Elementary Schools. We have a particular need for tutors at Gregory and St. Cloud. The programs are held once a week after school from 3:25pm to 4:25pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. No tutoring experience is required. This program is sponsored by the West Orange African Heritage Organization in conjunction with the PTAs at the abovementioned schools and the West Orange Board of Education.

VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT FOR MOCK ACTIVE SHOOTER DRILL on Tuesday, August 20 from 8:00am - 2:00pm. This event is expected to be the largest of its kind in the State of New Jersey. MARCHING BAND COMPETITION COMING TO WOHS! West Orange High School will be hosting a Marching Band Competition in the fall of 2013! This is an exciting event and wonderful opportunity for the school and community. We hope to have 10 bands from other school districts competing, which will bring a large number of students and families to our school to enjoy the competition.  If you have never seen a marching band competition, you are in for a huge treat!  They are exciting, very enjoyable, dynamic events.  We need to start planning and the first step is setting up the committees.  Even if your child is not in Marching Band, we would love to have your help.  Alumni parents and graduates, we would love to have your help, too!  This competition will benefit all music students in West Orange.
