Junior League of the Oranges Brings Community Groups Together for “Kids for Kids”: A Children’s Volunteer Event


ORANGE, NJ - Community groups are joining forces, for a fifth year, in Millburn next month for a children’s volunteering event to help youngsters in need.  

‘Kids for Kids,’ organized by the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills, Inc. (JLOSH), brings together local groups and children for a morning of hands-on volunteering and fun at the George Bauer Community Center in Taylor Park, Millburn, on Saturday, March 4.

Contributing community groups include Girl Scouts of America, Interfaith Hospitality Network of Essex County, Family Assistance Resource Center (FARC), Caring Kids Millburn, and The Bridge.

The activities children aged six to twelve years will be able to take part in include: 

- Filling bags with toiletries & essentials

- Create journals to give to children at risk

- Participate in creating a “passport” based on completion of each volunteer activity 

- Have fun at our JLOSH photo booth while promoting volunteerism

- ‘The Littlest Volunteer Contest’, a contest that awards $100 to kids’ ideas for helping to improve their community. 

In addition, children will have the opportunity to learn about eco-literacy, dental hygiene, and more. The Kids for Kids event is best for children aged six to twelve years. 

Donations of non-perishable goods, such as canned protein meals, and travel size toiletries can be brought to the event.  In addition, we are also collecting new children’s books for pediatric patients. 

The JLOSH ‘Kids for Kids’ event goes a long way to helping children in need, while teaching kids and adults about the benefits of volunteering, and bringing together a host of community organizations. 

‘Kids for Kids’ takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, at the George Bauer Community Center in Taylor Park.

The Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills is an organization of women developed as civic and community leaders creating lasting community impact. JLOSH provides service to East Orange, Livingston, Maplewood, Millburn, Orange, Short Hills, South Orange, Springfield and West Orange, and reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins.
