WEST ORANGE, NJ – JCC MetroWest has announced that it is partnering with TEKI (Technology-Education-Knowledge-Instruction) to launch technology programs beginning this fall for students of all ages at the Leon and Toby Cooperman JCC, Ross Family Campus, at 760 Northfield Ave. in West Orange.

TEKI specializes in creating educational environments and programs enriched with science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

“Teaching technology is fascinating because students are creating their own designs, worlds, and masterpieces as you help guide them in a responsible way,” said TEKI Founder Howard Weinrib.  “Our goal is to prepare a community of successful innovative learners for active citizenship, career exploration, and further education beyond our services.”

Experienced technology educators will lead classes designed to turn students into the digital leaders of the 21st century. Classes are being offered after school on weekdays for grades K-8.

These programs which will be exposing students to different aspects of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) curriculum include: Educational Technology Using Science, Engineering, and Mathematics; Educational Technology Using Language and Digital Arts; Simple Machines/Robotics and Engineering; Coding and Programming Using Minecraft; Animation and Video Game Creation; Minecraft Modding and Math; 3D Animators; and Video Game Development and Design.

In addition, a JCC Robotics Team will be offered. The Robotics coach will support students with an emphasis on programming and teamwork. Each of the projects will begin with a robotics research simulation question in which students are guided step-by-step through the building and programming of a new solution and technological answer. The goal is to compete in local and in-house tournaments in the future.

“Not only does his success speak for itself, but I have had the opportunity to personally witness Howard’s skillful, creative and passionate approach,” said CEO JCC MetroWest Alan Feldman. “He and his staff inspire imagination and motivate inventiveness. We are excited by the possibilities TEKI offers for children in our community.”
