Local Musicians Invited to Join Metropolitan Orchestra of NJ

CHATHAM, NJ - The Metropolitan Orchestra of NJ, a full symphonic community orchestra comprised mostly of local volunteer musicians, is inviting "talented area residents" to join rehearsals for the 44th season. The orchestra's conductor and artistic director is Michael Stratechuk.

Rehearsals, for the first of a three-concert series, will begin on Sept. 10 at Chatham Middle School, located at 480 Main St., in Chatham. All rehearsals will run from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the band room. There are openings in all string sections.

The program for the first concert will include Schubert: Overture in the Italian Style, D. 590; Vaughan Williams: Oboe Concerto; and Beethoven: Symphony No. 6 (Pastoral).

The fall concert will be held on Nov. 22 at 3:00 p.m. at Chatham Middle School.

Nutley Police Make Arrest In Instagram School Threat Case

NUTLEY, NJ — The Nutley Police Department made an arrest in the case of an Instagram video post. An 18-year-old resident was charged with Third Degree False Public Alarm.

Joseph Rafanello, a senior at Nutley High School, was arrested and taken to Essex County Jail. The arrest followed a full investigation by the police.
