WEST ORANGE, NJ  There is a lot to do this coming Saturday, June 4 in West Orange!

The West Orange Street Fair runs on Main Street from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., the Classic Car Show from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., a concert by Rude Boy George from 4 - 6 p.m.and Slide the City, which will be open 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. (www.westorange.org/slidethecity for reservations,  Be sure to use promo code WEAREWESTORANGE and 20% of your ticket price will go back to the WO Scholarship Fund). 

The Turtle Back Zoo also hosts 14th Annual Essex County Open House from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., rain or shine.

The Open House, which includes free admission to Turtle Back Zoo, combines games and activities to entertain and provide information to raise public awareness about the programs and services provided by Essex County.

"Hosting this popular event at Turtle Back Zoo is a unique way to make County government more accessible and raise awareness about the many ways we contribute to our residents’ quality of life.” said County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo.

In addition to the free admission to the Zoo, other on-site attractions include the miniGOLF Safari miniature golf course ($8 for children and $10 for adults), pony rides and a carousel ($2 each) and miniature train (free), and a chance to meet the Zoo's newest residents in their just opened animal habitats featuring giraffes, sea lions, sting rays, jaguars, Gibbon apes, wolves, otters, alligators, reptiles and bears. 

Feed sticks at the Outback Adventure Aviary are $2. Fees also apply at the Treetop Adventure Course and Paddle Boating on the Orange Reservoir..

The Annual Open House also includes carnival games, treasure chests, prize wheels and trivia tests created by Essex County employees to promote their offices and services. Every county department, division and office, including county-related agencies and authorities, will have information about their functions, and directors and employees will be on hand to answer questions.
